Easy Access
Delphi is one of the most important archaeological sites in Greece, located 34 km from Galaxidi in a majestic mountainous landscape. It was a religious center with great influence on the religious and political life during ancient, Hellenistic, and Roman times, and was considered the center of the world – the omphalos, or navel, of the earth.
The fame of the Oracle of Delphi spread beyond the borders of ancient Greece and gained international renown. Pilgrims from all corners of the known ancient world gathered here, offering gifts and sacrifices in hopes of hearing a favorable prophecy. Ordinary citizens, kings, and generals alike sought advice and predictions about personal matters or important decisions, such as whether to go to war or establish a new colony.
Today, the archaeological site of Delphi—with its imposing ruins set amidst the dramatic landscape formed by two towering rocks, the Phaedriades—has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage site, impressing every visitor who comes.
The main monuments at the site include the partially restored Temple of Apollo, where the famous inscriptions “Know Thyself” and “Nothing in Excess” were carved; the Tholos of Athena Pronaia; the theater where vocal and instrumental contests were held during the Pythian Games; the stadium, one of the best-preserved of its kind; the Athenian Treasury, a small well-preserved Doric building made of Parian marble; and the Siphnians’ Treasury.

Arachova
The picturesque village of Arachova is perched on the rocky slopes of Mount Parnassus at an altitude of 960 meters, just 12 km from Delphi. Once a quiet village with a rich folk tradition, especially in wood carving and weaving, its inhabitants were engaged in animal husbandry and cheesemaking. They were well-known for their cheeses, honey, hand-cut noodles (hilopites), and strong red wine.
Since the establishment of the ski resorts on Mount Parnassus, Arachova has been flooded with skiers and has transformed into a cosmopolitan winter resort.
The main street is filled with shops selling embroidery, woven goods, flokati rugs, cheeses, and hilopites. It’s worth trying the famous Formaela cheese, a product protected by PDO status, as well as the lesser-known saganotyri and opsimotyri cheeses.
The discerning traveler will admire the view from the Hora rock and wander through the narrow cobbled streets lined with stone mansions, soaking in the authentic mountain atmosphere of the village. For those who love traditional customs and rituals, visiting Arachova during the three-day festival honoring Saint George—known as the “Panigiraki”—is a must, where ancient Greek customs are revived.
Korykeion Cave
Above the Arachovitiko Meadow, a passable dirt road leads to the Korykeion Cave, a grotto adorned with stalactites and stalagmites forming curious sculptures.
A center of worship for the Nymphs and Pan, it resembles a womb concealing the ancient primal instincts of humans or a sanctuary for sacred mysteries. The carved steps lead from light and purity into darkness and multiple echoes, extending 90 meters deep.
Olive Groves of Amfissa
A defining feature of the region’s landscape is its olive trees with silvery foliage and ancient trunks, whose wrinkles tell the story of time passing. In the plain of Amfissa, the ancient Krissaic field, lies one of the oldest olive groves in the world, over 3,000 years old, with one million olive trees.
Chrissos
A traditional settlement featuring well-preserved mansions and neoclassical buildings situated between Galaxidi and Delphi. It boasts stone-built traditional churches, charming narrow streets, and breathtaking views over the plain with its endless olive groves, the town of Itea, Galaxidi, and the Krissaean Gulf.
Fokida Mining Park
Located between Amfissa and Lamia, the Fokida Mining Park, also known as “Vagonetto,” is a unique themed park. An underground tunnel has been preserved exactly as it was when operational and transformed into an original museum space deep within the earth. With the help of audiovisual media, you will experience a typical workday of miners in the bauxite quarries and learn about the entire extraction process.
In specially designed mining history rooms, visitors will get to know the methods of locating and mining bauxite, its transformation into aluminum, the history of the mines, the applications of aluminum, and methods for landscape restoration. Parnassos
Ski Center
The largest and most well-equipped ski center in Greece, located at Kelaria, Fterolakkas, and Gerontovrachos on Mount Parnassos. It can accommodate a large number of visitors and skiers. The center offers facilities for night skiing, children’s slopes, and a snowboard track.
It features 13 lifts, 19 downhill slopes ranging from 4 to 50 km, 7 ski routes, 2 main connecting roads, 8 linking trails, 3 mini beginner slopes, and 12 off-piste ski routes.
National Park
For hikers, mountain bikers, and nature lovers, the Parnassos National Park offers unique, well-marked, and enchanting trails through pristine nature. One of the oldest designated national parks in Greece, it features forests of Kefalonian fir and alpine meadows at high altitudes, rich in flora and fauna, with springs and streams of great ecological and aesthetic value and biodiversity.The park is a sanctuary for wildlife and overlaps with a special protected bird zone, home to vultures, golden eagles, woodpeckers, blackbirds, and more.
A particularly memorable hiking experience is provided by the ancient pilgrims’ path Kirra-Delphi, the international European E4 trail from Delphi to Eptalofos, and other marked trails connecting the sea to the mountains. These paths offer springs, fountains, rocky staircases, chapels, olive groves, and unparalleled views of the sea and surrounding mountain ranges.

Climbing
For climbing enthusiasts, the area offers excellent climbing routes. The climbing site of Plaka, near the village of Sykia, is considered one of the best in Europe.
Paragliding
